Parasites, burning urine, or blood in the toilet can trigger immediate fear, making promises of a single natural cure sound incredibly appealing. Online posts often claim that herbs such as oregano oil or uva ursi can eliminate infections that doctors supposedly overlook. The reality, however, is much more complicated.
Oregano oil contains compounds such as carvacrol and thymol, which have shown antimicrobial effects in laboratory studies. Uva ursi contains arbutin, which can produce compounds that may suppress certain bacteria in the urinary tract.
But laboratory findings do not mean these herbs are proven cures for infections in people. Their effects depend on the specific cause of the symptoms, the dose, and how the substance is used. They should never be treated as universal treatments for parasites or urinary infections.
